Training for Local Authorities
REAL offers Carbon Literacy training, in collaboration with Speak Carbon Collective, to officers, senior leaders and councillors in Local Authorities, enabling them to make a meaningful contribution to a climate emergency or climate action plan. Whether your council has declared a climate emergency or not, we can help you to foster a low carbon culture.
Carbon Literacy Training
“Carbon LIteracy: An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.”
The one day, or two half day sessions and are developed with individual councils to ensure relevance and maximum impact to team learning. All Speak Carbon and REAL Sustainability training is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project, which has over 40,000 participants in 3,812 organisations.
Training Aims & Outcomes
- To understand and be able to explain the basic science of climate change and how climate change will affect us both globally and locally.
- To evaluate the climate change objectives in your local authority and analyse the impacts.
- An overview of climate policy and the co-benefits of climate investment.
- To construct your own strategies to take action on climate change within your service area or sphere of influence.
